Diversity and Inclusion
As we make, it's important to remember that the work, dialogue and education to be diverse and anti-racist in the knit & crochet community is equally important. Many BIPOC makers, including myself, are working tirelessly to bring awareness, education and accountability. Though this burden to bear is ultimately not ours. Many continue to turn a blind eye, cold shoulder, and closed ear to accepting others in a safe environment regardless of the color of their skin, weight, sexual orientation, etc.
If you're silencing, tone policing or enabling others to choose racism (niceness, fragility, etc.) - then you must re-examine if you are in fact listening + learning. You could be creating more problems vs. solutions. As the owner and maker of Northknits, I will not endorse nor collaborate with any who make human acceptance problematic. It is not easy to live and love - as both are often buried underneath anger and fear - but it is necessary.
Will you commit to living D&I with me? I encourage you to with prayers and solidarity.
