Sewrella Home Marls Yarn Review

I've knit with the original Sewrella Home collection before in its solid colorways, so I was especially excited to see what the new Home Marls would bring to the same base. As soon as the yarn that I ordered arrived, I cast on and started knitting. I didn't have a complete design in mind, but I was curious to see how the marled colorway would interact with simple stitches.
A colorway that does the work for you
Berry Jam is the color I’m knitting with and one of ten new colorways in the Sewrella Home Marls collection. The collection includes: Berry Jam, Café au Lait, Denim, Clover, October, Mirrorball, Wildflower, Playlist, Macaron, and Shortcake. Each one pairs two existing Home colors together during the spinning process, creating entirely new combinations while keeping the same DK-weight base. Berry Jam blends Betty and Dinner Party, creating a rich marled look.
One of the things I appreciate most about marled yarn is that it brings visual interest without the need to knit or crochet a piece too detailed or complicated. The colors shift naturally across the stitches and give a layered dimensional look.
It's why I chose to design my pattern with simple stockinette stitches and easeful increasing and decreasing. I think the more visual interest the yarn has, the simpler the project can be. Home Marls is a perfect example. The color is already doing the heavy work so it doesn't necessarily need an intricate stitch pattern.
Of course, that's simply the approach I enjoy most. One of the best parts of making is that we get to decide what speaks to us. If textured stitches are your favorite, knit them. If you prefer clean, classic silhouettes, Home Marls absolutely shines there too.
The yarn at a glance
Home Marls is a heavy DK-weight yarn made from 80% superwash merino wool and 20% cashmere-style nylon, with 212 yards per 100g skein.
Since I'd already knit with the original Home base (for my Lakeshore scoodie knit pattern), I knew I was going to enjoy working with this yarn. It has the same soft, approachable feel, but the marled colorways offer a different and fun finished fabric. The stitch definition stays crisp while the colors add subtle depth across every row.
The yarn glides smoothly across both metal and wooden needles, feels soft, and creates structure ease. I'm currently using a single skein for my shaped scarf design, and it's a nice amount of project yardage. It's the kind of yarn that's easy to settle in with for an evening of knitting.
Perfect for simple autumn knits
Home Marls feels made for cozy knitting and lifewear type outfits. The yarn offers enough depth while still feeling easy to style. I vision a simple scarf thrown over a white tee and jeans, a cozy cardigan layered with relaxed denim, or a classic sweater paired with tailored trousers and loafers.
What also impressed me while knitting with this yarn is how balanced it feels. It has enough structure to create great stitch definition, but still soft enough that it feels comfortable and relaxed. It's been a quick, satisfying knit, and one I genuinely look forward to picking up and knitting.

Would I knit with it again?
Absolutely.
After spending the past few weeks designing with Berry Jam, I know that this won't be my last project in the Home Marls collection. It takes everything I already loved about the original Home base and gives it a fresh personality through the marled colorways. It feels familiar while still offering something new, which isn't always easy for a yarn collection to accomplish.
I already have Café au Lait on the way, with plans to make a second scarf sample or new sweater design. And TBH I really want to explore all of the collection’s colors.
